Oakville Homes

From large lakefront mansions, to bachelor apartments, Oakville homes come in all shapes and sizes! Maybe this is one of the reasons why Oakville appeals to such a diverse range of people. It’s a family-friendly town, yet it also has great appeal for young professionals and the more mature executives; and it’s also very popular with seniors too, so why is this?

Oakville’s Location

The location of Oakville has always played an important role in the town’s huge popularity. Toronto is just a short distance to the east of our great town so you could call this a commuter town. With the GO Train getting you into downtown Toronto in no time at all, it is a good place to live if you have to commute. Living in Oakville homes you get the best of both worlds – the big city is nearby, but you benefit from the more sedate and peaceful way of life that can be found here.

Oakville isn’t just a bedroom community though, it’s far more. Many multinational companies call the town home, such as Ford Canada, and there are hundreds of smaller businesses too providing thousands of jobs for the residents.

Some of the province’s best schools can be found right here and the town is well known for its recreation too. We’re sitting right on the shores of Lake Ontario so sailing and other ways of enjoying the water are very popular; then there’s the parks and recreational facilities. Add in the excellent shopping – from the individual boutique stores of Olde Oakville, to the big box stores in the newer areas of town – and it’s easy to see why so many people want to live in Oakville.

Searching for Homes

There are many desirable places to live in the town, but if you’re looking for certain types of homes where should you look?

Almost all of the neighbourhoods could be considered family friendly, and if you have children you may want to choose a street that’s in the catchment area of a particular school. In Joshua Creek, one of the newer communities of Oakville, there are some excellent schools, and this is one of the best family friendly parts of the town to live in.

For dream and luxury homes with the price tag to match you may like to consider any of the lakefront areas, especially around Olde Oakville and Morrison, where you’ll find fabulous mansions with large lots that have their own lakefront with private docks and marinas.

Bronte is also a lovely lakefront area and there’s a great mixture of homes here too. From the newer, luxury condos with amazing lake views, to older, more established homes with larger lots. Bronte has its own individual, village atmosphere.

Another neighbourhood with the village atmosphere is Kerr Village. This community is right in the heart of town and is one of the oldest parts of Oakville. The community-based lifestyle means that these Oakville homes appeal to all different age groups, such as young professionals who want to walk to the eclectic stores and restaurants; families who want to be close to great schools, and anyone else who wants the central location but access to parks and transport.

These are just a few of the places you can buy Oakville homes. If there’s something specific you’re looking for in a neighbourhood ask your real estate agent who has expert, local knowledge!
