Young professionals, executives, families, and seniors who often choose an Oakville condo for convenient and hassle-free living. This popular town on the shores of Lake Ontario is within easy commuting distance of Toronto; in fact, it’s within the Greater Toronto Area. It’s well known as a great place to raise a family, but Oakville isn't just a family community; the town appeals to people of all ages who want to be able to enjoy its recreation, parks, lake access, shopping, culture, and great transport links to the big city.
Choosing an Oakville Condo
So you've decided to make this picturesque town your home for the foreseeable future, congratulations! Maybe you’re retired, or you’re just starting out buying your first home; whatever the case you’ll soon realize that Oakville appeals to home buyers of all ages, many of whom are attracted to the community feel and active lifestyle. But, whether it’s your first home or your forever home a condo could be a great choice.
Here in Oakville we have numerous different types of condo properties. You may think of a condo as being a high-rise and if this is what you like you should take a look at some of the new high-rise condos down near the waterfront. These new developments are modern and luxurious, and of course many of them feature fabulous lake views. The Shores is one such development, set in the desirable village neighbourhood of Bronte. Bronte is a former fishing village in the south west edge of Oakville, popular today for its quaint small town feel and waterside parks.
Oakville Condos are not only of the high-rise variety. There are numerous low-rise condo buildings too such as around Central and Downtown Oakville. These condos offer lifestyle living because they’re within walking distance of stores, restaurants, cafes, and bars, and you have public transit right on your doorstep too. The great thing about condo life in Oakville is that you’re never too far away from a park and open spaces, and even in downtown Oakville this applies with Sixteen Mile Creek meandering its way towards Lake Ontario, while on the lake itself there are beaches and places to walk including George Street Park, Lakeside Park, and Dingle Park.
Another popular type of condo is the townhouse. We have a number of new townhouse developments here in Oakville too, including in the newer subdivision of Joshua Creek which is in the north east corner of Oakville. But you’ll find older town homes scattered all over the town including the neighbourhoods of Central Oakville, Glen Abbey, Oak Park, West Oak Trails, and Bronte, to name a few.
A final type of Oakville condo is the detached home. Now you probably wouldn't expect to find a detached home that’s listed as a condo, but it does happen occasionally. To be honest, most of the new detached homes being built in Oakville will have freehold title, as do the large majority of pre-existing detached homes. Being condo title does have its advantages, but usually buyers of detached homes want to know they’re buying the freehold title to the property. Even so, with high-rise, low-rise, and townhouses to choose from, Oakville is still a great choice when it comes to owning a condo!
