Joshua Creek

Joshua Creek is one Oakville’s newest communities, where upscale housing meets great transport links, an abundance of recreation, excellent schools, and nearby shopping. It’s easy to see why this community in North Oakville has grown to become so popular.

Neighbourhood Boundaries

In North Oakville, this puts the neighbourhood a little farther away from Lake Ontario, but in an excellent position for accessing the highways. The exact boundaries of the neighbourhood are usually defined as follows: East is Ninth Line; West is Grand Boulevard and Eighth Line; North is Dundas Street East; and South is Upper Middle Road.

Transport Links

Nestled near the north east corner of Oakville, Joshua Creek can’t be beat when it comes to transport links. The 403 is just a couple of minutes drive while the 407 is a couple more minutes from there. And, of course, once you’ve reached either of these highways the drive into Toronto is only around 30 kilometres. How long this drive takes is going to depend a lot on the time of day and the amount of traffic, but for anyone looking to commute into the big city there’s also the GO Train. Schedules are a little more reliable with this form of transport, and from the neighbourhood there are two GO Train Stations within easy reach, Oakville Station, and Clarkson. From the latter, the ride into Union Station, right in the heart of downtown Toronto, is just 25 minutes.

Schools

One of the big features to attract families to the neighbourhood is the schools. Like the rest of Oakville, the schools here are very well rated and there’s something for everyone. Joshua Creek Public School is the public elementary school and it’s set right in the heart of the community. There is also the St. Marguerite d’Youville Catholic School, and the Iroquois Ridge High School. Glenburnie School is the closest private school, while Fern Hill School is nearby too.

Community, Shopping, and Recreation

Another thing that residents really love is the community feel. Because this is a newer subdivision that was carefully planned, there’s plenty of housing but there’s also plenty of places to get out and enjoy trails and recreation. There’s the Iroquois Ridge Community Centre, nice parks and trails to explore with the family, the PGA Golf Centre, and White Oaks Golf Course is nearby too.

In terms of shopping, everything you need on a day to day basis is all within easy reach. The Upper Oakville Shopping Centre is just minutes away, where you can shop at Metro, 24 hours a day for all your groceries, and there are big box stores nearby too.

Homes in Joshua Creek

So if the convenience of great transport links, excellent schools, shopping, and recreation has persuaded you to move to the neighbourhood you’re probably going to want to know how much homes cost here. Well, this is an upscale community with many new homes and you’ll always pay a premium for a brand new home. You should also expect to pay more for ravine properties and those that are on great lots, but typically a town home will sell for around $500-600,000, while detached homes regularly sell for anywhere from $600,000 to $1 million+.
